MEPILEX border is an self-adhesive island dressing that has a good properties of absorbation and atraumatisation. It contains a soft silicone wound contact layer.

The main absorbent core is made out of three components, it has a thin sheet of polyurethane foam, also a piece of nonwoven fabric and a layer of really superabsorbant polyacrylate fibers.

The core can be found right above the large piece of polyurethane film and is stuck in place by the perforated silicone adhesive layer that is extended to the borders of the dressing itself.

This adhesion is very gentle and it prevents any macerations by covering the lateral movment of exudate from the wounds. The silicon itself is not adhere to the surface of the wound so it can be removed quite gently without causing any pain or trauma.

The MEPILEX dressing has a wide area of usage, you can use it on moderately exuding wounds and it can also be used on leg and foot ulcers. Most effective is for pressure ulcers and it can be used under compression. It can also be applied on tramuatic wounds like skin tears and secondary healing wounds.

MEPILEX dressing is a dressing made of atraumatic polyurethane foam which is very absorbant. The outer layers are made from so called vapour-permeable polyurethane membranes which are bonded to the surface and act like a barrier from microorganisms and also liquids.

The wrinkled membrane is made in this way, when it absorbs a lot of liquids it slightly swells.

The side that covers the wound is coated with a layer of really soft and gentle silicone based sufrace, that doesn’t stick to the wound and its really great when you need to remove the MEPILEX from the wounds.

The silicone is also slightly tacky, which helps to protect the skin when using and doesnt hurt epiderm at all.

Mepilex Ag has super features of Safetac tech, with power of silver for antibacterial effect. Mepilex Ag works quickly, curing wounds from 30 minutes to 1 week. When removing Mepilex Ag dressing, it does not stick to the wound or strip skin, so pain would be minimal or none.
