MEPILEX border is an self-adhesive island dressing that has a good properties of absorbation and atraumatisation. It contains a soft silicone wound contact layer.

The main absorbent core is made out of three components, it has a thin sheet of polyurethane foam, also a piece of nonwoven fabric and a layer of really superabsorbant polyacrylate fibers.

The core can be found right above the large piece of polyurethane film and is stuck in place by the perforated silicone adhesive layer that is extended to the borders of the dressing itself.

This adhesion is very gentle and it prevents any macerations by covering the lateral movment of exudate from the wounds. The silicon itself is not adhere to the surface of the wound so it can be removed quite gently without causing any pain or trauma.
